The film which was as sweet as its title was a yet another film that became a surprise hit. Not because of the content, which was strong as a boulder, but due to the competition it faced from Indian as well as the International cinema in the month of its release. The film, that took about 20 crores to make, walked out of the arena with a total of approximately 34 crores.

Lipstick Under My Burkha advised the story of 4 ordinary women who inflicted by way of foolish societal norms and had to steal, lie, cheat and conceal with a purpose to lead the lives that they rightfully favored and deserved. The film would be hailed for leaving a dent in the ordinary Indian mindset and the numbers are proof. The 5 crore film walked out with four times the money.
