The story of a small village man who gets married but everything falls apart due to lack of basic hygienic necessities has been hailed by audiences and critics alike. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, who play the lead pair, hit a home run at the box office with a lifetime number of 134.22 crores. The cost of the film was just 24 crores.

An educational satire at heart, the film, that was made at just a cost of 22 crores and had Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar essaying the lead roles, was a yet another example of the term “Content Is King” as the film, unlike many others, had their number of shows increased and managed to gross over 100 crores globally!

The critically acclaimed movie ‘Newton’ has also won in the box office number game. The movie made a gross total of 22.08 crores lifetime and is also said to make India proud by going for the Oscars. The cost of the film was very low at just 9 crores.

Ayushmann Khurana and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘ Shubh Mangal Savdhan’ had also undoubtedly made it big. The film seriously upped the game for many movies that will follow post SMS. The movie ended its run at 43.11 crores, while the film only cost17 crores to make.

Vidya Balan in and as ‘Tumhari Sulu’ left its mark audience’s heart. The movie has crossed the 27 crore mark and is still going strong. The cost of the film was just 20 crores.

Bareilly Ki Barfi

The film which was as sweet as its title was a yet another film that became a surprise hit. Not because of the content, which was strong as a boulder, but due to the competition it faced from Indian as well as the International cinema in the month of its release. The film, that took about 20 crores to make, walked out of the arena with a total of approximately 34 crores.

Lipstick Under My Burkha advised the story of 4 ordinary women who inflicted by way of foolish societal norms and had to steal, lie, cheat and conceal with a purpose to lead the lives that they rightfully favored and deserved. The film would be hailed for leaving a dent in the ordinary Indian mindset and the numbers are proof. The 5 crore film walked out with four times the money. We wager the makers would have gone Cha-Ching!

6 Things You Should Know About New GST Rates

Making the major modification in the four-month-old GST regime, the  GST Council  on Friday stimulated 80 percent of items in the top 28 percent tax brace to lower rates. Tax rates on over 200 things, containing beauty products, chewing gums, chocolates, coffee, and custard powder, among others, were  reduced from 28% to 18% , Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said after the 23rd GST Council meeting in Guwahati.
